Notably, Ronaldo has been in the spotlight due to his contentious interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo claimed in the interview, which was released in two parts earlier this week, that he feels “betrayed” by his current club, Manchester United, and that manager Erik ten Hag and other senior executives are attempting to force him out.

United released a formal statement on Friday, stating that it has taken “necessary actions” in reaction to the shocking interview given by the Portuguese star.

Last season, Ronaldo, who will rejoin United from Juventus in July 2021, scored 24 goals in all competitions.

However, United had a disappointing season, failing to qualify for the Champions League.
