Nina Dobrev‘s latest red carpet ensemble might be her most daring look to date.

On Thursday, the 33-year-old attended the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit at Cannes wearing a bright red dress by Mônot.

The bold cherry red floor-length gown showcased the star’s curves and featured an asymmetrical cutout that accentuated her bust. The sultry ensemble completely covered her right arm in a glove-like style, while her left arm was bare. Dobrev amplified her red-hot look with a diamond choker necklace, crystal earrings and rings by Messika.

Fans quickly took to social media to weigh in on the star’s jaw-dropping red carpet ensemble.

“So beautiful!” wrote a fan, while another added, “Flawless” with the heart-eyes emoji.

Dobrev attended the event with her pro-snowboarder beau Shaun White, 35. The pair began dating in 2020 and reportedly went into isolation with during the COVID-19 lockdown. White looked dashing in a classic tuxedo and bow-tie as he cuddled up to his sweetheart.

After White announced his retirement from professional snowboarding at the winter Olympics earlier this year, Dobrev gushed about her “hero” boyfriend in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“I am in awe of you. Today we are celebrating you. Your hard work. Your passion. Your determination. Your talent. Your class. Your fearlessness. Your courage. Your soul. Your heart. YOUR LEGACY. I couldn’t be more proud,” she wrote in the caption. “Of everything you have accomplished over the last 20+ years as a competitor and the man you have become. You are one of a kind. Hunter McGrady was just 22 when she made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2017. At the time, she was only the second plus-size model to be featured in the magazine. Now, the 29-year-old is gracing the pages of SI for the fifth time — and the photos that were taken just six months after giving birth to her first child.

In an interview with Yahoo Canada, McGrady said shooting for SI postpartum was “so empowering,” and she hopes the issue will make other new moms feel seen, valued and heard.

“I felt like I came into myself a little bit and I was just so excited to do it,” she said. “Not only for me, but for moms out there who may be a first time mom or may be postpartum, or maybe they had a kid 30 years ago. [I want them to see that] they can get out there too and feel good in their body and know that they really did something so wonderful.”

McGrady has been an advocate for body diversity since the start of her career. In 2020, she launched her own fashion line with QVC, called All Worthy, which offers pieces in sizes XXS to 5X.

Now that she’s a new mom, McGrady is on a mission to make sure other people in the same boat know they’re enough just as they are. She’s vehemently against the “toxic” bounce-back culture that tells new mothers their worth lies in their ability to lose the baby weight, and she hopes to lead by example and give others permission to give themselves grace.

“We honour the body while it’s pregnant and we talk about how women are glowing and how beautiful they look,” she said. “And then when they give birth, we’re like, ‘Okay, so when are you gonna, you know, get back to what you were?’ And we stop honouring that very same woman.”

But having a child has made McGrady even more grateful for what her body is capable of and even less focused on what it looks like in the mirror.

“I’m looking at my son and I’m like, ‘How could I possibly hate the body that created his body?’ That would be doing him a disservice, and it would be doing me a disservice,” she said.

Still, McGrady has tough days just like the rest of us. On days when she feels like wearing baggy clothes and staying home, away from society’s harsh judgments, she quickly reminds herself that she should never have to miss out on life because of how her body looks.

“I want to go out and live life,” she said. “Not only for me, but for my son. I want to appreciate this body that was my son’s first home.”

Developing this level of confidence has been no small feat. While many believe that being confident is a destination we should all strive to reach, McGrady said we’d be better off thinking of it as an ongoing “bumpy” journey; one that ebbs and flows with the trials and tribulations of life. And on the most difficult days, McGrady said she turns to journaling, meditation and therapy to help centre herself and improve her mental state.

Though it’s been less than a decade since McGrady made her SI debut, the new mom said she feels as though she’s in a completely different place.

“I just feel a lot more mature,” she said. “I feel a lot more honed in on who I am as a person and I’m excited to see where this new chapter takes me.”

McGrady said she’s honoured and excited to be featured in SI’s most diverse issue yet, which features a strong cast of women who utilize their platforms to advocate for issues including women’s equality and redefining beauty at every age, shape and size. The roster for the magazines latest issue features Yumi Nu, Leyna Bloom, Duckie Thot, Maye Musk and more.

“There are so many incredible women in this issue that just stand for true inclusivity and diversity,” McGrady said. “And I truly believe that this will be the catalyst to other brands and magazines taking the same stance of true inclusivity. I think it’s really, really needed right now. It’s not just the hot button topic, it’s not something that is going to come and go—it’s here to stay.”

1. We frequently make incorrect comparisons. We live in a world that excels in measuring and comparing externals because we can most readily compare things that can be objectively measured. We determined somewhere along the road that comparing clothing, vehicles, homes, incomes, attractiveness, or Twitter followers might indicate who is having a more important life. Externals, on the other hand, are rarely a useful indicator. Self-worth has never been measured by net worth.
2. We are always comparing our worst to their greatest. Comparing your life to others is always a losing proposition since there will always be those who “look” to be better off and live the perfect life than you. After all, we constantly compare our worst ideas about ourselves to our greatest preconceptions about others. Be warned: their lives are never as perfect as your imagination portrays them to be.
3. The game of comparison has no end. You may compare yourself to yourself in an unlimited number of categories… You may compare yourself to an almost endless number of individuals. You will never, ever find an end to that path once you start down it.

4. Life isn’t a straight line. In any case, how you compare yourself to others has no bearing on your life. It just does not matter. It is not the purpose of life to be better than half of the people on the earth. The purpose of life is to be the best version of yourself.
5. Comparing yourself to others causes you to focus on the incorrect person. You only have power over one life: your own. We squander valuable energy focusing on other people’s lives rather than our own when we constantly compare ourselves to others.
6. Comparison takes away your delight. Comparing yourself to others will always make you lament what you aren’t instead of allowing you to appreciate life for who you are. It will always take the joy and happiness that is within your grasp… and position it just out of reach.

The harmful tendency of comparing oneself to others has stolen many happy lives. When we compare ourselves to others, we lose our appreciation, joy, and contentment.

More importantly, it keeps us from completely experiencing our lives. It encourages us to enviously seek out someone else’s life rather than our own. It takes away our most valuable possession: life itself. While the desire to compare will probably never go away entirely, there are some practical actions we may take to overcome it.
